OPAL by Jennifer Armentrout

Oh no.Oh no,no,no. Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.. this could not have happened, no!!!! I just can´t...I... I...

I´m a mess, I´m torn and my poor heart has shattered into a tiny million pieces. This book had me flying as high as the moon one second and the next it turned me into a pityfull, crying, bawling, depressed girl.

Daemon is and will always be my #1 book crush. I love his snark, witty, sexy overbearing attitude! But smexy, lovable, flirty, romantic Daemon.. OMG!!! I couldn´t even think and I totally understand why Katy was a drooling mess during the book, I would be too.

"Daemon spoke in his language. The lyrical quality of his words made no sense to me.

“What did you say?” I asked.

“There’s really no translation for it,” he said, “but the closest human words would be,you are beautiful to me.”

~The Storyline~

The story starts exactly where it was left off in Onyx!! Adam is dead and Dawson's back!! But nothing is the same anymore. Katy and Daemon are stronger than ever.
Blake's back and he wants their help. He knows where Beth is. It's the same place where his friend Chris is being kept. He needs their help and they need his.
And Dee, the sweet bubbly girl has turned into a cold and unfeeling douche canoe. She wants to kill Blake.
Dawson will not let anyone kill Blake as only he can lead to Beth.
Then there are the Elders who can outcast Daemon for being with a human.
And then there is the chance that all of this is a Trap. A big trap for Daemon and Katy set by the DOD.

And so Readers, welcome to the crazy world of Opal!

I loved Opal there are no words to describe the amount of emotions this book caused in me. I laughed, cried and swooned, got mad and angry. I'm so raw right now that just thinking about this book makes me want to cry and cry all over again.

The're NOT supposed to tear up at the end! (I cried like a baby!!) Talk about the Cliff Hanger of ALL TIME!!!!

Be prepared for your heart to be torn out!!!

I am NOT adding any spoilers!!!
Why?? Because I suffered.....a lot!!
And I want you to experience the pain which I felt!!

........maybe together we can make it till summer next year...maybe together the pain won't be that much......

Who am I kidding?!?!? the waiting is going to suck monkey butt! but at least we won't be alone!

You guys really need to get this book. right now. If you haven´t read this series yet, guys you are missing out big time.Jennifer L. Armentrout is the best of the best and her books are totally amazing!

No one is like Daemon Black.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love. After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1)

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
Released: 3rd April 20112
Rating: 3/5

Goodreads Description
Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.

Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

My Thoughts
15th century Britanny: Ismae has been raised as the younger daughter of a brutal turnip farmer, although she is the result of her late mother’s infidelity. Her being still among the living and defiantly bearing the sign of being a survivor as a huge read welt along her torso although her mother tried to abort her with poisonous herbs is due to the common believe that foeti who refuse to succumb to their mothers’ efforts to get rid of them have been fathered by Mortain, the breton god of death, himself and are indistructible and dangerous.
When Ismae is fourteen and has just been married to a younger and even crueller version of her father she gets abducted and thus saved by worshippers of the old gods/saints. Having only met brutes like her father and her almost-husband Ismae unwaveringly chooses to become an obedient assassin in Mortain’s service instead of picking the alternative, which is leaving the convent as the wife of the good and gentle man the convent's abbess would set aside for her. Her schooling takes about three years during which Ismae spends much of the time she should attend fight, etiquette or history classes in the poison maker’s workshop because of her unique gift, which makes her immune against each and every poison. Yet, in spite of her comprehension of her country's political situation having holes as big as Normandy, in spite of her childish impatience, her lack of refinement and her inability to take care of the simple spy work that should precede a kill, the convent's fishy abbess singles Ismae out to accompany the blue-blooded Gavriel Duval as his mistress to court, where she is to find out if he is loyal to his country and to kill whoever is marked by Mortain. Level-headed Gavriel is not overly excited to have a coarse Handmaiden of Death among his travelling baggage and is pretty honest about his doubts concerning her being up to the job.
This would have been the moment I would have liked the story to take off. I would have extremely enjoyed a kick-ass heroine who shows the haughty nobleman what a little training and some awesome genes can do to a farmer girl. A dropped jaw and some groveling on his part for seriously underestimating her would have been a bonus. But no! Assassins should be able to play any role, to blend in and be invisible or - if required - to shine and dazzle. They should be able to think, to understand subtle changes in a situation, to lay low for some time or to strike in the spur of the moment. Our star of the story, narrow-minded Ismae, gets quickly antsy and irrational, because apart from sticking a knife or some poisonous things into brightly-marked people there is nothing she is really fit to do. She makes some half-hearted attempts to find out things to write home about and to act inconspicious, but her clumsiness is painful to watch.
This book reads a lot like a romance novel, but I really enjoyed that about it. The romance between Ismae and Duval is slow-building, believable, and pretty smoldering. I was a bit surprised when the book finally seemed to be getting to “the good stuff” and then....BAM! Apparently this is a young adult novel! Which is unfortunate because it reads so much like an adult romance, and I think that it would be better if it embraced that a bit more.
Even though I only gave this 3 stars, I will definately be reading the companion novels.

The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols

The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols
Released: 6th December 2011
Rating: 3/5

Goodreads Description
Gemma can’t believe her luck when the star football player starts flirting with her. Max is totally swoon-worthy, and even gets her quirky sense of humor. So when he asks out her so-called best friend Addison, Gemma’s heartbroken. Then Addison pressures Gemma to join the date with one of Max’s friends. But the more time they all spend together, the harder Gemma falls for Max. She can’t help thinking that Max likes her back—it’s just too bad he’s already dating Addison. How can Gemma get the guy she wants without going after her best friend’s boyfriend?

 My Thoughts
Gemma and Addison have been the best of friends since they were ten. Having lost both their fathers in a divorce, Gemma’s mom thought it would be nice for her daughter to have someone to confide into. So ever since then, they did everything together. Or more like, Gemma did everything Addison wanted her to.
Gemma and Addison might call themselves bestfriends but inside, they’re best enemies too. They are very competitive with each other. Like when they were kids, they had baton lessons together. When Addison grew tired from it, she quit. But sometime later, when she found out that Gemma was trying out to become a majorette, she did so as well. Addison is also extremely selfish. She says embarrassing things about Gemma in front of her and other people. There’s also a scene where she purposely hit (though not entirely obvious) Gemma on the nose with her baton to embarrass her in front of two hotties. She later dragged Gemma to the boys and started flirting with the guy Gemma had her eyes on. Addison never apologized for hitting her, or for other horrible things she did. She also appears to be extremely ignorant and mostly, just shrugs off the horrible things she’s done.
Max is supposed to be paired with Addison, but throughout the book the connection between Gemma and him is obvious. They connect as friends and more. Normally you'd feel bad this was happening when Max is supposed to be the best-friends boyfriend but trust me, Addison is no best-friend! When you get to the bottom of this story, then you'll really don't feel bad, at all! Addison is horrible, most of the book I wanted to choke her! Such a self-centered, shallow, cruel girl! She is queen of the backhanded compliment, and outright insult. You find out that Gemma is friends with her because she feels she has no one else. Her weight made her self esteem non-existent. However, this starts to change when she makes a new friend, and starts to excel on the majorette squad. Max also helps with these changes by challenging her thinking. Gemma on the other hand helps Max with his issues too, they're both good for each other.

Although, this story was not my favorites, I still would recommend it. It was an easy and cute read, one you could get through in a sitting.

Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Everneath by Brodi Ashton
Released: 24th January 2012
Rating: 5/5

Goodreads Description
Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath, where immortals Feed on the emotions of despairing humans. Now she’s returned—to her old life, her family, her friends—before being banished back to the underworld... this time forever.

She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these months reconnecting with her boyfriend, Jack, the one person she loves more than anything. But there’s a problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who first enticed her to the Everneath, has followed Nikki to the mortal world. And he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back- this time as his queen.

As Nikki’s time grows short and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she’s forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole’s...

My Thoughts
It was amazing. From the very beginning, it unfolds slowly, giving you a little at a time. Normally I don't like it when books go back and forth in time, but this time it was the absolute correct way to go, giving the readers a taste of what was going on without ruining anything. I read it in one day because I could not put it down.
You could say Nikki was the weak type.
She didn't stand up for herself in the beginning.
But I wasn't annoyed by her, which is a good thing.

Jack owned my heart from the first page when he was introduced.
I loved how he was persistent, and didn't give up.
He's soo sweet and adorable.
And guess what?
He's a quarterback ;)

I struggled with my feelings for Cole, since I should hate him, but I don't. He is misunderstood, and struggling to survive the only way he can. He can't undo what he is, and what he needs. But of course, I love Jack and loved every moment him and Nikki interacted. His character was real, and not the false ideal man that everyone wants, but of course doesn't exist. I will go back and read this again and again, and I don't do that very often. I only read books I love more than once. This one is definitely one of my all time favorites.
